Kick off the season in style at Watkins Glen International by taking three laps around the historic road course in your own personal vehicle. $25 tickets will be available at the gate, with proceeds going to the WGI R.A.C.E. (Racing and Community Enrichment) .
OPENING WEEKEND AT THE GLEN TO BENEFIT LOCAL TEENAGER
Ryan Berwick, of Adirondack Central School, hopes to have a new standing wheelchair which will allow him to walk across the graduation stage this June.
Opening Weekend at Watkins Glen is April 13, 14 and 15, 2018. The RCC will have a reservation on April 14th around 11 AM.
We currently have 17 cars from the RCC and 5 Cars from the Van Bortel group attending this event. The plan would be to meet at Van Bortel Corvette Showroom on route 31 and Macedon around 8:00 and head for the track sometime around 9:30. Matt will host the group. The dual meeting place of Canandaigua Wegmans has been removed. Hopefully the weather cooperates. All sign-ups for this event from the RCC is requested by April 11 (Wednesday) so I can provide Rob at Watkins Glen a count of corvettes attending
The RCC Glen time will be Saturday only if this is whether impacted the RCC folks who would like to take advantage of this track opportunity, can go on Sunday 15th but it would be their choice and most likely be mixed with other NON Corvette Vehicles. Cost is $25 for 3 laps behind a Pace Car with the monies going to the Track Charity.
Please let Steve (The Short One) Popple (email - firstname.lastname@example.org) know if you plan on attending the April 14th run by April so he can let the Track Contact know the number of Corvettes that will be attending in order to enter the Track together.”

Mid-Ohio May 4th Race 2018
Re-Blast for clarity:
Clarification – please reply to Steve Popple at the following email. 5855-230-9638 or
I have just learned that GM will NOT be providing a Corvette Corral Tent and the stuff that goes along with it for this race. However, the Mid-Ohio Team will be making available Car Corral Tickets over the next few weeks. This Corral will be for all Cars. Now on that note, they have proposed a specific corral parking area for the Corvettes. For me to pursue this with the Mid-Ohio staff I need a count to see if we can at least get a Specific Corvette Parking area on the infield. Please let me know if you have made reservations at the Country Hearth Inn in Willard or another venue and you plan on going to this race so I can get a count back to the Mid-Ohio folks and see what I can work out.
Thanks a Bunch.

"We will build on that legacy next May with a field of Prototype and GT race cars that represent the pinnacle of the sport. Many of our stakeholders have long been supportive and quite vocal regarding a return to Mid-Ohio and we are pleased that we can finally say 'We're back.'"

Sunday, June 17th, 2018 from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
For many years the club used traditional judging methods and classes to select the top fifty vehicles. This worked well, however the increase in the number of outstanding vehicles has made if very difficult to determine the BEST fifty vehicles in the show field. In recent years we also have had fewer qualified judging volunteers. For these reasons, several years ago we adopted a new format for trophy awards called "Favorite Fifty".
The recipients of the Favorite Fifty awards will be determined by a selection committee. The committee will look at each vehicle and will decide which fifty vehicles most notably represent our hobby. Within this group of Fifty Favorites we hope you will find many of your personal favorites.
Additional Special Awards for:
● Best of Show ● Best Engine ● Sonny Hoyt Memorial Award ● Best Mopar
